Luxury hotel of the week:Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

If you love luxury but at the same time want to visit a more alternative destination like Hanoi, the Sofitel Legend Metropole, definitely, won't upset you.Very well located,in the heart of the French colonial district, just a few steps from Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter,it is the best that the city offers. An attraction itself,
because of the iconic architecture,it's elegant interior and of course, because of it's great history, that lasts for over a century.
During these years, the Metropole Hotel had been a VIP's meeting point and a base for press and diplomats.
Something really remarkable is that it has welcomed many famous politicians from all around the world,as well as legendary personalities like Graham Greene,Stephen Hawking and Charlie Chaplin. The last one spent here part of his honeymoon,in 1936.

Due to a renovation, the hotel has now two wings, the Opera Wing (new) and the Metropole Wing (old).
I preferred to stay in the Old Wing and i would advise you to do the same,if you want to "feel the magic in the air",while traveling through history.Maybe you will be part of it...
The luxury room, absolutely, satisfied me.Very clean, with wooden floor,a queen size bed,a large bathroom with a separate bathtub and with the whole classical decoration to remind France of 1920,that room overreached my expectations.WiFi,tea and coffee are complimentary.

One thing that really impressed me,just from the first moments, was the hotel's delightfully decorated interior.
There is a mixture of classic France and Vietnam, which is at least fascinating. All public areas, from the main restaurant,to the lobby and the pool are beautiful and always dressed up with colorful flowers.

The hotel has three bars and three restaurants, where you can taste French,Italian and Vietnamese cuisine.
As for me,i enjoyed so much afternoon Vietnamese coffees and night refreshing cocktails at the Bamboo bar, just beside the pool.Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, the pool area offers relaxing and charming atmosphere, all day long.A perfect environment, especially if you wish to calm down, after a day into Hanoi's chaotic traffic.

The Beaulieu is the hotel's French, several times awarded restaurant. It is the oldest one of the three (100 years of history) .Here, breakfast is served. With great quality of food and many choices, both from Asian and Western Cuisine,it will give you exactly what you expect from a top, five star hotel.

A good idea: If you want to regain harmony during your stay at the Metropole, you can visit the Spa and enjoy a large variety of revitalizing treatments, with high quality products, such as oils and aromas, from the East and the West.

In the end and as part of the whole extraordinary experience at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, it is hard not to mention the very good service and of course, the kind and gentle staff.A huge thank you,for the warm welcome and for these three lovely days.I will, certainly, come back!

All pictures belong to my personal photo gallery.I used Nikon D5200 and Iphone 5.

  1. The Sofitel is such a beautiful hotel. I have to tell my husband about it because he usually books the best hotels for us.I kinda suck at booking nice hotels. I love your photos! Thanks for sharing, and feel free to visit my travel blog.
